Sandwiches are having a global moment. And since we follow so much better than we lead, sandwiches are having a local moment. New “specialty sandwich” places are popping up across town and by and large, they can classified into two categories: the uppity sandwich (you know the one…Le snooty million dollar sandwich made of caviar and blandness) and the sandwich next door (the no frills-sandwich that tastes just like its other thousand clones in neighboring joints). Crumbs is the refreshing exception to both rules.

Unpretentious (there goes rule 1), this tiny place in Badaro acknowledges sandwich-making is not rocket science and yet manages to make some of the best sandwiches we’ve had in Beirut to date. If we were to describe it in one word: Imaginative (there goes rule number 2). The menu is guaranteed to delight all those- like us- who are just BORED to death with the same offerings. From Ricotta honey to Turkey Boursin combinations, these concoctions are as creative as they come. Made to order with fresh seasonal ingredients, they taste like the home-made sandwiches your mother could never dream up. Along with freshly squeezed juices, they make the perfect meal.
