Stairway sums up what we love about Mar Mikhael (and Beirut for that matter). Strolling around the streets, you never know what amazingness you’ll stumble into next. The most innocuous-looking door can lead to an extraordinary place and experience. Alice in wonderland-style. Stairway is just that.

Newly opened in Mar Mikhael, the lounge is akin to a secret garden whose lid we are about to blow off. Open air, beautifully designed with a central bar surrounded by brick walls and an impressive amount of greenery, you would be forgiven to think you have entered another dimension. Maybe stumbled into someone’s back yard. Someone who knows how to throw a party. Remember that popular kid in your class who oozed effortless cool? That one. The dim lights and the view over its downstairs neighbor, Terminal B, only intensifies that delicious and slightly naughty peeping-Tom feeling you get as soon as you set foot there.

The menu is as original as the setting with specialty Tiki cocktails that come in the most outrageous glasses (you’ll want to order one just to admire the container) and intriguing delicacies such as shrimp eclairs and blue quesadillas. Don’t forget to book, this place will likely be crowded every night of the week with a happy hour from 17:00-19:00.
