Prune is a charming French Bistro that boasts the feeling of neighborhood with positive vibes and delicious food.
Seen and be seen at Prune French Bistro, where rustic French dishes are served night and day. A place where old meets new, innovation meets restoration, and good food meets amazing ambiance. This delightful eatery in the heart of Mar Mikhael is where the beautiful people gather to dine, chat, and people watch. Instantaneously one is greeted by the sound of chatter and the aroma of French cuisine. Prune is known for its simplicity and authenticity to the typical French feel yet boasting little architectural details. High ceiling with dimmed yellow lighting is filled with hundreds of items that make it look like a piece of art. Black and white photographs double up as wallpaper, and the lamps, decorated by oversized black shades cast seems as if almost as if one has stepped into the set f a 1930’s movie. The spiral staircase adds a kind of majestic feel to an industrial place. The place is filled with square white marble tables covered by paper placemats and surrounded with black wooden chairs and brown leather cushions. As the name suggests, prune is featured highly on the extensive menu. The restaurant glass facade is typically French displaying some of the best items served all written creatively on the glass. Make sure to try the Poulet aux Prunes; four slices of chicken layered one next to the other, served with prunes and slices of roasted almonds in a bath of sauce. Put one small piece of chicken, a piece of prune and cover it with sauce before taking it into your mouth. Amazing texture, awesome chicken quality, premium sauce, extraordinary flavors and a gentle sweet aftertaste that's cherry on top. Come and taste signature creations that are up to the standard of Michelin starred restaurants.

We passed for lunch on a rainy day.
First they should put a sign on the neylon curtains to mark the entrance because we tried to figure it out until noticed by the floor manager who came and showed us.
We had a reservation already, the place was packed and waiters were all around to ensure fast service however they need severely a training.
We were handed the menu by the waiter, and the floor manager explained the daily special for us, a smile could be very much welcome from all the staff, though i understand they were very busy but still it adds to the experience.
The waiter came later to take the order that i will detail below, the problem was with the waiter reaction, we asked for the order to be presented same time, he said it cannot work because it is from two different kitchens, so I told him he can manage it since they will start the steak cooking and on the same time it can be coordinated to have the salad and the salmon ready, still he found it too complicated and what happened is that the steak was served first and the time the salad came, yes still without the salmon sandwich, our friend was almost done form her meal. Besides being served each item alone, I don't think it was rocket science to coordinate, we were served the salmon sandwich just plain as hell and lacking all the toppings while all what we asked for was the removal of butter and cheese not the toppings!
The order was:
- the steak plate: cooked medium and served with a side of veggies, however some work is needed on the presentation because the plate looks empty!
- From the sister restaurant acote we ordered:
- the super green salad: we love it so tasty with both the balsamic and the lemon mustard dressing
- the salmon sandwich: we are addicted to its high end taste but as I explained above it was served in an usual way before.
I still think that the servers should be more trained to accommodate simple requests and to be more accurate. It took the floor manager presence to make them move to get the sandwich as it should be!
On my previous experience I had the same comment as detaield below:
The best part about this place is the possibility to order from acoté and vice versa. The staff though needs more training, a smile and more welcoming approach is what differs robot from human beings! The menu is versatile, this time, we took the fresh crab salad and the goat cheese one and we ordered the smoked salmon sandwich from acoté. All tasty and generous portions. This place is great, some attitude adjustment of the staff would be great! And not charging every tiny thing asked for example instead of the regular cheese I asked for goat cheese with the salmon which was charged. It's less than a tablespoon and would not cost much to be presented complimentary no!
