Bcharre to Harsoun -19 Km North to South Ascent 814 m | Descent 850 m - Difficult
Trail Description
This section of the LMT starts in the historic town of Bcharre and ascends to the high plateau above the town where the hiker can visit the cedars of Bcharre. The trail then passes through the highest village in Lebanon, Bqaa Kafra (بقاعكفرا ), and the upper reaches of the neighboring villages of Bqorqacha (بقرقاشا ) and Bazaoun (بزعون ) before reaching Hasroun. This area is covered in snow during the winter and can be explored on snowshoes. Highlights include the Gibran Khalil Gibran museum in Bcharre, the Qadisha grotto (مغارة قاديشا ), an ancient cedar forest, and views of both the highest mountain peaks in Lebanon and the beautiful Qadisha Valley World Heritage site. A segment of dirt road that stretches for 11 km from the Cedars plateau to Hasroun is bike-friendly.
