A real Italian in Gemmaizeh
This place is for the Italian purist, the lover of authenticity. No menus with “a twist” here, just pure simple Italian deliciousness. We have many Italian restaurants in Beirut. Many. With a big M. This latest addition is, as all new arrivals are, the talk of town. To set the record straight, we had to see for ourselves and, boy, are we glad we did. At first glance, a no-frills space with a few wooden tables (what else), a red marquee, a few outside tables and an atmosphere that seems to be saying “you don’t need all the fluff to enjoy a good meal”. Similarly, the place’s menu is not extensive with a choice of 19 pizzas and a few other “all-day indulgences”. The pizzas are, as you would expect from an Italy-trained pizzaiolo, authentic.
If you are a fan of Napoletan pizza (light dough, mild-moderate amount of cheese and oil galore), you will love this place. Pizzaria is the only place in town that boasts the use of San Marzano tomatoes, wood-oven baked Italian flour and award-winning local olive oil. Go ahead and give it a try, you wont regret it! You can even try their manakish for breakfast if that’s what you’re in the mood for.
Delivery services are available and you can order online. That’s right. Online. Who says we don’t keep up with the times?
