The Lebanese National Library is an inspiration.
It is still in renovation, but, you can get a sneak peak inside its spectacular Reading Room for a very special exhibition "Bitasarrof" that brings together 55 Lebanese artists. These artists were given the reference book "100 years of Lebanese Press" and from it, they created paintings, mixed media work, murals and photography pieces.
Join FADE IN: this Saturday for a guided tour by the Lebanese Foundation for the National Library to learn more about the Library itself, our cultural heritage (did you know we had the biggest collection of books in Middle East and right now they are being restored for the re-opening of the Library?) and plans for its future.
A few things about us:
1) We are FADE IN: a creative writing hub located in Mar Mkhael where writers meet for workshops & programs in screenwriting, short story, poetry and novel :)
2) We LOVE the art exhibition at the National Library's Reading Room - there are yet to be books inside the Library, however, they are currently being restored (all 200,000 of them)
3) We are NOT directly affiliated with the National Library or its ministries or foundation - we are writers who are SO PROUD that this work is happening and soon we will have a national library to call our own
4) This exhibition is open to the public every day from 11am - 6pm until Sunday 20 November. Our event on Saturday is just a way for all of us to gather and share this landmark together.
This exhibition is open to the public until 20 November, but we'd love it if you joined the #fadein community of writers and creatives so we can share this amazing landmark together.
RSVP to join us in our guided tour is a must.
