The eco-tourism spot in Lebanon par excellence: the Tanail Domain in Central Bekaa is ripe with fun and educational activities
Property of the Jesuit fathers since 1863, the Tanaïl domain is well known across the entire Bekaa region due to its antiquity, its standing, and its social work for underprivileged local populations. Since 2009, the non-profit organization Arc-en-ciel has taken in charge its management by developing its agricultural terrain. Encompassing 230 hectares, the domain welcomes people from all across the country and worldwide. With over 2500 visitors a week, it remains one of the rare places in Lebanon with well-conserved and much varied woodlands and wildlife. A wide variety of activities suitable of both adults and children are available, including guided tours, camping, hiking, horseback riding, pic nics and cycling in addition to games such as archery and “petanque”.
All activities are coached with the help of the trainers. The area is equipped with convenient signs, which sensitizes the public to the discovery of cultures and respect of the environment. A hundred dairy cows and a whole herd of goats provide fresh produce in the creamery of the Tanaïl's convent. Natural products manufactured in an artisanal farm fashion containing no additives nor preservatives, such as yogurt, pressed yogurt, butter, cream, fresh pasteurized milk, white cheeses (halloum, Akkawi, Nabelsi, kariche, majdoule, chanklich, double cream) and the famous Gouda cheese of Dutch origin are uniquely produced at the Tanaïl's convent. The domain’s dairy farm offers groups a breakfast or lunch formula, which includes all kinds of drinks, candies and indulgences. Do not miss a fun day at Tanail!
