Iqbal Al Assaad’s story is a tragic one, certainly not for her, but for this precious country of ours. Being a Palestinian refugee she was denied a medical profession on the basis that she is not Lebanese.
Perhaps for the best she was sponsored to attend Cornell University Medical School’s Qatar Branch and is now perhaps the youngest doctor in the world or at least female doctor. While she is not legally Lebanese, the fact that she was born on Lebanese soil to Palestinian parents is good enough for us.
