No need to go to Thailand for a magical lantern festival: just head to Ramlet al Bayda in Beirut and prepare to be mesmerized.
After the great success of the first lantern festival in May 2014, the annual Lantern Festival in Lebanon returns on June 13th 2015. Do not miss the spectacular sight of hundreds of lanterns being sent off into the sky to pay tribute to the only strip of golden sand left in Beirut and honor its history, which is deeply engraved in the city's collective memory. The non-profit organization Nahnoo will be participating in this event to highlight the loss of our public spaces and advocate for their importance as witnesses and guardians of our shared history. Tickets are sold for 20000LBP (13.50USD) at the following locations:

or contact participating NGOs. Ticket price includes entrance fee, one sky lantern and one soft drink. Of note, tickets will not be available at the door and children under 16 will not be allowed in due to safety concerns. All proceeds will go to support the following organizations: Animals Lebanon, GAM3 Lebanon, Sawa Ahla Group and Skoun, Lebanese Addictions Center.
So go ahead and light a lantern and remember a beautiful memory you had In Beirut. Be warned: if every lantern is a memory, you will likely need much more than one lantern!
