UNESCO Palace to Host the mesmerizing Voice of Faia Younan
Young Syrian artist Faia Younan will hold a concert at the UNESCO Palace Theater, Beirut on Friday evening, March 24th, 2017. The accompanying band will be led by musician and composer Ryan Habre. Choosing Beirut as the city to launch her debut album “Baynatna Fi Bahr” (A Sea Between Us), the concert will showcase the wide spectrum of the album’s tracks and the variety of lyrical compositions involved.
The album features nine songs that bring together an impressive lyrical repertoire with neo-classical Arabic (Fus-ha) and local dialect together with modern musical compositions, each bearing a different message. Work on the album took more than a year and extensive efforts were invested to yield a refined lyrical and musical production with standards.
Gaining popularity with her viral YouTube video “Li Biladi” (To My Country), Faia Younan has since decided to focus on her musical career holding concerts at the most recognizable of venues around the Arab world and Europe. Growing up in the city of Aleppo has obviously impacted her musical influences and tastes where traces of Fairouz, Umm Kulthoum, Sabah Fakhri, and Sayyed Darwish musical legacies could be felt throughout her musical choices and performances.
