Amale Andraos is dean of the Columbia Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. She was born in Beirut, Lebanon and has lived in Saudi Arabia, France, Canada and the Netherlands. She holds a B. Arch from McGill University in Montreal and a Master of Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. She is the daughter of a Beirut-based architect and realized her passion for architecture while observing his practice.
She serves on the board of the Architectural League of New York, the Advisory Board of the Arab Center for Architecture in Beirut and is a member of the faculty steering committee for the Columbia Global Centers | Middle East.
